Edgar House is a fine period Georgian house which has been lovingly refurbished to create Chester's most prestigious award-winning small luxury hotel - just for adults. The hotel is peacefully situated overlooking the River Dee, yet offering all the convenience and benefits of a central location in Chester.  The city's historic attractions, shops and restaurants are only moments away.

The awards are impressive: Number 1 small Hotel in the World (2016), Most Romantic Hotel in Europe (2017), and in 2019 the World Hall of Fame award for being in the top 1% of hotels worldwide for 5 years running. (All these come from tripadvisor.)

Inside, you'll find original working fireplaces, a sweeping staircase, and luxurious boutique bedrooms.  There are chandeliers, an English heritage palette of colours, squidgy sofas and dreamy beds, and even a mini cinema room. The garden lounge is the place to cosy-up by the fire in winter perhaps with a coffee and homemade shortbread.

Filling the space between the hotel and the river is the spacious riverside garden, a perfect place to relax and unwind and maybe somewhere to enjoy your breakfast or afternoon tea on a sunny day.

Twenty2 is the restaurant of Edgar House. It is open on Fridays and Saturdays for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. The choices are enough to make your mouth water just sitting here. I think I would have the Fish and Chips and the Triple Chocolate Brownie for lunch, and at dinner I would go for Seared Baby Scallops, Duo of Beef and the Posh Cherry Cheesecake (with more chocolate). Once a month there is Sunday Lunch too with traditional roasts and some alternatives if you're not one for tradition.

With just seven guest bedrooms, space and luxury come as standard. Each one is sumptuous, luxurious and individually designed with sofas and bespoke locally made furniture. The superking size beds come with snuggly goose feather and down pillows and duvets, and Egyptian cotton sheets. They all have large internet-connected HD TVs, complimentary broadband and wifi, and Amazon Fire, Netflix and Disney+ for complimentary in-room TV and films. The en-suite bathrooms ooze luxury with Molton Brown toiletries, fabulous rain showers, freestanding baths, French porcelain tiles and underfloor heating. Room rates are inclusive of a two-course breakfast each morning and a dedicated parking space.
