Reasons to visit the Balearics

Due to the wonderful climate and lovely beaches, the islands of Mallorca (Majorca), Menorca (Minorca) and Ibiza have been an attraction for holiday makers for decades. Forget the large package holiday resorts, the islands have abundant space for discerning travellers seeking rest, relaxation and beautiful landscapes.

Being the biggest island, Mallorca has just about everything that any visitor could wish for. There are lots of long, sandy beaches but there are also cliffs, mountains (great for walking outside the summer season) and small bays.

Menorca sometimes seems like the forgotten island. Everything is on a smaller scale and there really are no large resorts at all. "Nightlife" is restricted to Mahon, though Ciudadella at the other end of the island is a town with abundant shops, bars and restaurants, as well as a very pretty harbour. The rest of the coast is filled with quiet beaches, remote calas and little villages.

Ibiza is pretty and exclusive. Away from the clubbing enclave in San Antonio, it offers tranquillity and an old-world charm. For something more sophisticated, Ibiza Town is an up-market centre for shopping, bars and restaurants.
