38 St Giles Boutique B&B is a grand house with a long and interesting history. Built in 1700 for the Gurney family and once the home of the Lord Mayor of Norwich, it is centrally located in Norwich adjacent to 'the lanes', the oldest part of the city boasting over 200 independent shops, cafes, restaurants and more. Homemade cakes are served on arrival with a choice of teas or coffee.

Inside the main entrance is the grand staircase leading up to the bedrooms. From the standard double rooms to the two large suites you will be surrounded by comfort and a sense of history. Decoration is an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary pieces of furniture & artefacts, sumptuous throws, cushions and rugs. Bathrooms feature oversized walk-in showers and rain shower heads. Several rooms also have baths. White, fluffy towels and quality toiletries help ensure that your morning ablutions are a positive experience! Bedding is 400 thread count white Egyptian cotton and goose-down and feather pillows and duvets. The enthusiastic owners and staff ensure that no corners are cut in attempting to provide you with a relaxing, comfortable and memorable stay.

There is a saying that for healthy eating you should breakfast like a king, lunch like an prince and dine like a pauper. 38 St Giles will ensure the first part of that, though an evening trip out into the city may find you breaking the latter part of the rule. Freshly prepared breakfasts are cooked to order. The menu incorporates aspects of the traditional English breakfast whilst offering some slightly different options for the more adventurous foodies.

In the Middle Ages Norwich was more closely connected to the continent than to the rest of England as the Fens were such a barrier to travel. The impressive Norwich cathedral is built of stone brought from Caen in France. For visitors the cathedral and castle are must-see sights, along with the largest outdoor market in the UK and the picturesque Elm Hill. Beyond the city, Norwich is the gateway to the Norfolk Broads, but don't forget the rest of Norfolk. You may find that it's not entirely flat after all!
