Harbourside View is a family run bed and breakfast in a houseboat moored in Bembridge harbour on the Isle of Wight. The privileged position offers fantastic sea views across the sheltered bay. Built on an old military stores barge the property is surprisingly large, featuring three en-suite guest rooms and a big lounge/breakfast room/kitchen. During the build of Harbourside View many fittings have been salvaged from other ships to enhance the nautical flavour.

On the seaward side the lounge has easy chairs, a television and binoculars mounted on a tripod for watching the activity out on the water. Patio doors lead from the lounge onto a generous deck area with big comfortable outdoor sofas and a table. On the landward side is a pretty little garden filled with flowers and beyond that lies the Bembridge Lagoons and an RSPB nature reserve. As the tide rises the houseboat floats imperceptibly and ducks and swans will probably swim up for some titbits.

Full English is the default for breakfast, plus there is an ample choice of fruit, cereals, breads and pastries, sourced where possible from local suppliers.

Diana is the master suite, a large room with a superking bed, a cosy chair and a snuggle seat for two and patio doors leading to the raised deck with sofas and a view of the harbour. The large en-suite bathroom has a double shower and a two person whirlpool bath.

Eve is a good sized room on the upper deck featuring views of the downs and the lagoons from its juliette balcony, as well as sea views from the side window. The bed is a double, the en-suite has a shower and there is a comfy chair, flatscreen television and tea and coffee-making facilities.

On the lower deck (or "ground floor") is Don, another double room with shower en-suite and similar facilities to Eve. The deck faces out onto the pretty garden.

The Isle of Wight is small enough that all parts are easily accessible by car to guests staying at Harbourside View, even the Needles at the far end of the island. It's also a place ideal for the keen photographer, dog walker and artist, as it offers total relaxation and a chance to unwind from everyday life.
