The Dower House is a country house hotel situated just outside Lyme Regis offering ten comfortable and tastefully appointed guest bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Surrounded by rolling hills and open fields, the views from the lounge bar, sitting room and bedrooms are stunning.  In addition, there are over two acres of gardens with mature trees, extensive lawns and an outdoor heated swimming pool.

The bedrooms have all the charm and elegance you would expect of an aristocratic house built in the 1880s. They also have full modern facilities like flatscreen TVs, free wi-fi, complimentary toiletries and environmentally-friendly heating, insulation and hot water. For extra space, choose one of the Superior rooms or for the ultimate luxury pick one of the magnificent suites.

The lounge and bar are surprisingly modern in style, but no less comfortable. In summer the sliding doors roll back to reveal the rolling Devon hills, while in winter a wood-burning stove keeps the room warm and cosy. Cream teas are served in either the bar area, on the terrace or in the garden.

Breakfast in the dining room is an ample affair to set you up for the day. It begins with a buffet stocked with cerals, fruits, yogurts, cold meats and cheeses. This can be followed by a traditional full English or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Everything is cooked to order to suit the guest's precise taste. Evening meals can be be provided by prior arrangement, and there is an occasional pop-up restaurant.

Dogs are welcomed at the Dower House in selected rooms. They are even provided with their own canine breakfast (though not in the dining room).

The wonderful countryside and coast around Lyme Regis requires no introduction. It's an entrancing way to spend a few days, and made all the better by a stay at the Dower House.
