Brownber Hall is a modern take on the quintessential British country home - a boutique guesthouse in the Yorkshire Dales that is the perfect place for scenic walks, romantic breaks, outdoor adventures and picturesque views. The hotel overlooks the stunning Howgill Fells and is just a short drive to the Lake District.

When an active day is over, there's a lovely lounge to curl up in, freshly baked cakes may be on hand, and the honesty bar will be fully stocked. The restaurant specialises in homemade sourdough pizzas and Italian specialities, all hand-made, on Thursday to Sunday evenings. Breakfast includes homemade granola and the tastiest local, Westmoreland sausages and bacon. You’d also be mad not to try Amanda’s mother's homemade marmalade. While the restaurant may not be open for lunch, Peter and Amanda will be happy to prepare a packed lunch for you including fresh sandwiches (made with their homemade sourdough of course) and homemade biscuits or cakes.

There are eight beautifully designed bedrooms with views over the Howgill Fells. They range in size from the Master Suite to a Comfy Single room. In between there are various sizes of double room, some with the option of setting up as twin beds. Whichever you choose you'll have an individual take of the same modern country design theme, complete with en-suite bathroom, digital TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer and a proper place to store your luggage. For the best views, pick a front-facing room.

There's no doubt that Brownber Hall is an outdoorsy sort of place. The area is filled with walking, cycling and horse-riding opportunities. Try wild swimming too (Peter will have several suitable suggestions), go bird-watching or simply head out after dark to star-gaze the night sky. Free from light pollution, it is a revelation to anyone who normally lives in a town or city.
