Allt Na Craig House
, Tarbert Road, Lochgilphead, Argyll & Bute.
This homely family-run B&B in a Victorian country house has the most incredible views across Loch Gilp and Loch Fyne. To the left there is Ardrishaig harbour and the entrance to the Crinan Canal, while to the right Loch Fyne heads down towards the open sea.
The large gardens have extensive lawns and some mature trees. It is possible to take long country walks straight from the garden or the front door of the hotel. There is a terrace that is a great spot for afternoon tea and a couple of hammocks provide a rest for tired legs. All sorts of wildlife can be seen in the garden or just over the wall in the loch itself.
The lovely guest lounge has views of the loch (of course) and there is a nice dining room where breakfast is served. The ornate plaster cornices and ceiling roses have all been preserved, along with a grand staircase. The bar service offers a good range of mainland and island whiskies as well as other spirits, wines and beers.
The two largest guestrooms have baths with a shower over. Other rooms have an en-suite shower room. They all have views of the gardens and/or the loch, and come with complimentary toiletries and a hospitality tray for preparing hot drinks.
